Met some cool people in my classes over the past few weeks. Invited them to start a weekly tabletop gaming session. Most of them had never played a classic style pen and paper RPG so I ended up grabbing Wizards of the Coast’s Wrath of Ashardalon and Legend of Drizzt. Everyone had a good time and we are now one step closer to moving on to a more complicated game. Pictures and more info after the jump! We ended up running through two adventures with the group. The first was a simple explore the dungeon and kill twelve monsters and I sat out and acted as a quasi-DM. On this first quest the group ended up with a group composition of a Draconian Mage, Half-Orc Rogue, Elf Paladin, Human Archer, and Human Cleric. The group ended up breaking up into smaller groups once a few hallways were discovered in the dungeon. Our mage was focused on opening every door which was discovered even if it was locked or trapped. Our two healers ended up sticking together which lead to some hairy situations later in the game when others needed a HP boost. The rogue and archer were the fastest movers and had little trouble beating enemies they discovered until a Cave Bear popped up. With some lucky rolls of the twenty sided dice they survived and meet up with the rest of the group on the way out of the dungeon.
The second adventure was a bit more objective oriented. The group met a treasure hunter that had been below looking for a lost treasure in a crypt and had been ambushed. He didn’t have time to grab his bag of tools so he asked the group if they would go down and fetch it. Being the thrill seeking group we had become, we headed down into the depths of the crypts. Spreading out again we broke into two teams each having a healer this time. Once again our mage ran around unlocking doors like crazy just to see what could be found. The rest of us wandered about killing and collecting treasures from things that died at our hands. We eventually found the vault with the bag of tools but it was being guarded by two giant bears and a Orc Archer. Working as a group we dispatched them and collected the bag and headed towards the exit.
Next week we warm up with an slightly more challenging adventure and then hopefully will try and find Ashardalon himself and defeat him.
